K.T Hammond’s statement has no fact – Defence Minister

Defence Minister, Dominic Nitiwul has refered to K.T Hammond earlier statement regarding the people of Volta Region as factless.

The MP for Bimbila condemned the Legislator viral voice-tape where he was heard to be saying that 100,000 voters came from Togo to vote for Atta Mills in the 2008 Presidential run-off.

The Defence Minister has said K.T Hammond’s statement was his personal utterrance and not a government sanctioned statement since he is not holding an authority of that sort.

However, the minister debunked the minority’s claims that soldiers were deployed purposefully to deter people in the Volta Region from participating in the Voters’ Registration Exercise.

Speaking to Osei Bonsu on ‘Ekosii Sen’, he stressed that the Military men were sent to all borders across the country to assist the Immigration and Police Forces to man Ghana’s borders, since we have closed down borders amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
