18/10/2022

After winning 2018 TV3 Talented Kids as a rapper in a fiercely contested battle, Samuel Owusu a.k.a young king clef has set a new record for being the only person to have ever attained this feat in music and then going a step further to contest in the National Science and Maths Quiz.

On Monday, Fans and well wishers were excited and seemingly surprised to see Samuel cheerfully seated with his colleague to start the NSMQ contest for Pope John SHS & Min. Seminary.

Samuel represented his school to contest against West Africa SHS and Fijai SHS in the one-eighth stage of the popular quiz competition which is currently ongoing at the KNUST campus in Kumasi.

After the contest, Pope John qualified to the quarter finals stage with 31 pts against West Africa, 28pts and Fijai 24 pts. Pope John is expected to face off with Accra Academy and PRESEC Boys Legon.

The winner of TV3 Talented Kids Season 9, Samuel, has been away from limelight for close to 3 years and fans were wondering where he was. However, the young boy is finally back on stage and this time around, not on a music stage but on the National Science and Maths Quiz stage to partake as a contestant for his school.

The young amazing talent is starting the contest as a form 2 student and the only SHS 2 student contesting for his school. However, the most astonishing part of the conversation on social media now is about how the young chap changed from being a rapper to becoming an NSMQ contestant for a great school like POJOBA.

Deep sources say Samuel intentionally put his music career on hold to concentrate extensively on his education in 2019 after returning from Dubai.

“Since he wanted to read Science, it was very necessary for him to pause with music and anything that comes with it strategically to get him to focus on his education. Entertainment was taking a great toll on his education”. our source disclosed.

Pope John started the competition from the one-eighth stage after being seeded for qualifying to the quarter-final stage last year.

Pope John SHS is expected to face off with Presec Legon and Accra Academy on Thursday, Oct. 20th.

The show will be telecasted live on Joy News.
