How Ghanaians reacted to Martin Amidu’s resignation

16/11/2020

Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu resigned from his post on Monday, after barely 3 years in office.

The news of his resignation hit social media with shock as Ghanaians have reacted to his sudden resignation.

Some hold the view that, Martin Amidu’s failure to prosecute any government appointee resulted to his resignation.

However, his statement to the President proved otherwise.

In his lengthy letter, the former Attorney General said “The reaction I received for daring to produce the Agyapa Royalties Ltd Transactions anti-corruption report convinces me beyond any reasonable doubt that I was not intended to exercise any independence as the Special Prosecutor in the Prevention, investigation, prosecution and recovery of assets of corruption. My position as SP has consequently become clearly untenable“.

However, some Ghanaians have expressed their diversed reactions on some social media platforms.
