Members of Parliament who were elected on Dec. 7, will swear into office at 12am on January, 7 to kickstart the 8th Parliament as the 7th Parliament comes to a close.
With the NPP and NDC equally having he same number of seats, the kingmaker will be the only independent candidate who happens to be the Fomena MP.
Lawyer Andrew Amoako Assiamah beats all odds to win the almighty Fomena seat which was one of the most wanted constituency to watch in the 2020 election.
However, after he emerged victorious, the NPP who disgracefully sacked him from the party have come back to apologize. But it did not happen on a silver platter, the astute lawyer made some demands and that’s a fact.
According to close sources, he opted for some positions in the next Akufo Addo’s government.
The NPP also needed his support in the 8th Parliament to form the majority.
Today, as the 8th Parliament vote to elect the Speaker, his vote will decide who becomes the Speaker.
Lawyer Andrew has said he will always support his party no matter what and that statement will still ring a bell in the minds of Ghanaians, so definitely the NPP’s candidate for Speaker will emerge victorious.
The NPP has chosen to retain Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye as their preferred candidate for Speaker as the NDC have Alban Bagbin as their candidate.
Meanwhile, we are still waiting to see who will lead the legislature at 12:00am, Jan. 7.
