President Akufo Addo applauded Former President Mahama for taking legal path to contest the results of the 2020 elections.

He said this during the 2021 State of the Nation Address on January 5th.

Former President Mahama and the NDC are challenging the outcome of the 2020 elections, after the EC declared Akufo Addo as winner. Supporters of NDC took the street to protest against the results in several areas in Ghana few days after the polls.

However, President Akufo Addo believes it is good Mahama has taken legal action to contest the results instead of violence.

“I recognized that my main opponent in the election has gone to the supreme court to seek their intervention over his concerns on the outcome of the polls.

“It is good for the nation that in the end, he chose the legal path instead of the pocket of violence we saw in the immediate aftermath of the elections” Akufo Addo stated.
