Mahama to introduce Free Tertiary Education in 2020 Manifesto

Published

A communications member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region, Onasis Rosely Kobby, has revealed that John Mahama will introduce free tertiary education when he gets the mandate from the people of Ghana on December 7, 2020.

According to Kobby, the next John Mahama government will ensure university students do not pay school fees.

Speaking on Kumasi based Hello FM, Onasis Rosely Kobby opined that Ghanaians will find out more when the party launches its manifesto for the 2020 election.

He gave a hint when he wished the Free SHS final year candidates writing the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) the best in the ongoing exams.

“I want to use this opportunity to encourage all the WASSCE candidates, I send God’s blessings upon them,” he said.

“They need to pass so they can vote for John Mahama in order for them to attend university for free, as Mahama has promised.”

When the host of the show quizzed him whether he was confirming if the NDC has promised free university education, Kobby replied “Don’t worry, our manifesto will be out”. In the build-up to the 2016 elections, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagship campaign promise was Free SHS.

The Free SHS policy has since been implemented when the NPP came into power after winning the 2016 election.

It is unclear whether the claims of the NDC communicator, Kobby, is true, but we all await the party’s manifesto to ascertain the truth or otherwise.
