2020 election was peaceful – Mahama finally admits

15/12/2020

Opposition Leader, John Dramani Mahama in his latest interview has appreciated the peaceful nature of the just ended 2020 election.

The former President admitted that there was peace throughout the day of the election in most of the constituencies as earlier reported by EU and other diplomatic observers.

However, the former President explained that the EU Observers report were just on the day of election and did not cover post elections matters.

He stressed that even though he is not certain on whether the NDC will seek for redress at the court on their claims of electoral fraud at some polling stations and collation centres, but they will not rest until the results of the election is overturned in their favor.

John Mahama contested the December 7th election on hopes to unseat incumbent Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo of the NPP. His hopes capsized after the Electoral Commission declared the Presidential results on Wednesday in favor of Akufo Addo.

John Mahama and his Party are still challenging the results of the Presidential elections where they had 47.36% of the valid votes cast as against Akufo Addo’s 51.30%.

As it stands now, considering Mahama’s statement above, the party has not yet made a decision to go to the supreme court to challenge the results of the 2020 Presidential election.
