Talented Minors Ignored By VGMAs – Sylvester Owusu

20/03/2019

The Manager of Samuel Owusu, known in Showbiz as Young King Clef, who won Season 9 of Talented Kidz on TV3, has expressed concern about how very good minors have not been recognized by the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards
(VGMA).

According to Mr Sylvester Owusu, no matter how well they do, talentedminors are shut out of the VGMA.

“It is absolutely feels like talented minors are mostly marginalized even though there are kids who should get nominations at the VGMA. Surprisingly when the nominations are revealed, you realise they have been left out.

We are always subjugating young talents in the country forgetting they are our future.

The industry will not grow if we don’t appreciate our young talents. ”In the Western countries, awards shows such as Grammys, BET among others, nominate young artistes. Young Talents like willow smith, Jayden Smith and Miley Cyrus have even won awards at the shows” he stated.

Mr Owusu, who disclosed that they submitted Young King Clef’s single, State Of Affairs, for nomination, told the Daily Graphic the song deserved to be the Hiphop Song of the Year and Record of the Year.

He said after winning Talented Kidz, Young King Clef worked hard to release State of Affairs which has won the hearts of Ghanaians.

“State of Affairs” did not only do well in 2018 but its lyrical contrent and concept impacted a lot of listeners, earning the song a lot of airplays. For a 12 year old boy to tackle issues in Ghana’s politics and economy, he deserves to be nominated for Record of the Year or even Hiphop/Hiplife song of the Year.

Mr Owusu said Young King Clef is currently working on projects while undergoing grooming to help him industry the industry better.
