Arsenal have today confirmed that they have agreed a deal with Real Madrid to sign Dani Ceballos on a season-long loan.
There is no fee in place for the deal to be made permanent at the end of the 2019/20 campaign, with the Spanish giants still keen to track the progress of their midfield star.
The 22-year-old becomes Arsenal’s second signing of the summer following the arrival of young Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli having recently led Spain to the U21 European Championship title.
Ceballos, who turns 23 next month, signed for Real Madrid after an excellent season with Real Betis in the summer of 2017 but in the two league seasons since he has started just 17 of 35 appearances.
In that time the youngster has scored five LaLiga goals for the capital city club and been capped by the senior national team six times since the start of last year.
He bolsters Arsenal’s midfield ranks and, in operating as either a number eight or ten, serves as a replacement for Aaron Ramsey, who left for Juventus upon the expiration of his contract.
