Nana Oguahyia Ofori-Panin Birikorang has been enstooled as new chief of New Edubiase traditional council, Tuesday.
He succeeds the late Nana Assiamah Guahyia ababio (Nana Bright) who ruled for more than four (4) decades until his demise 5 years ago.
The Colorful Ceremony brought the entire township to a standstill with excitement captured on the faces of the Queenmother, Nana Akua Dwum II, Sub-chiefs and the people of New Edubiase, in the Ashanti Region.
Prior to this, the process of selection of a new chief has been going on in the background for some years now, with several discussions going on between the Queenmother and kingmakers as to who fits in as the rightful heir.
Finally, a collective decision was made for the choice of Nana Oguahyia Ofori-Panin Birikorang who has already swore the oath of allegiance to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

In February 2017, the people of New Edubiase hit the streets to demonstrate against the Queenmother’s failure to get them a chief for the past three (3) years.
According to them, development has stalled due to the absence of a chief.
