Nana Addo appoints Dr Okoe Boye as Deputy Health Minister as Ghana fights COVID-19

President Akufo Addo has appointed the MP for Ledzokuku and Board Chairman of Korle- bu Teaching hospital as new deputy Minister of health as Ghana fights COVID-19 pandemic.

The appointment of Dr Okoe Boye comes after the MP’s laudable communication on various platforms as the deadly virus was first recorded in Ghana.

The President, through the Coomunication director at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin issued a statement to its effect.

However, Alex Abban has been reshuffled to the communications ministry as deputy to Ursula Akuffo.

According to the statement, Hon, Vincent Sowah Odotei whose appointment as deputy communications minister has been revoked by the President.

Meanwhile, Ghana has recorded 9 news cases of COVID-19 as at 7th April, with the total number climbing to 214.

Dr. Bernard Oko Boye brings in his experience as a Medical Doctor as well as his expertise in Health Communications or Public Health Communications.

According to him, Ghana’s problem in this Public Health crisis, is “communication”. He told Bernard Avle on Monday on Citi TV’s ‘Point of View’.
