My husband stopped me from acting – Akua GMB

Sally Akua Amoakowaa Mensah, a former Ghana’s Most Beautiful queen and TV presenter, has revealed she had wanted to be an actress during her early days in showbiz.

However, she added that she never got the opportunity because her husband didn’t want her to be an actress.

Akua Amoakowaa made the revelation on Wednesday when she interviewed Yvonne Okoro and Jessica Williams on The Purple Room on Angel TV.

Yvonne and Jessica were on the show to promote their new movie, ‘Fix Us’, which premieres on December 6 at the Silverbird Cinemas at the Accra Mall.

Akua Amoakowaa asked the two actresses if they feel pressured from their families to get married as celebrities.

But after answering the presenter, Yvonne Okoro threw the same question back at Akua Amoakowaa, who replied saying she got married early at age 22.

Yvonne Okoro probed her further, asking her how it feels to be married and still be in the limelight.

She answered, “It is not easy to be a celebrity and to be married. I wanted to be an actress but he (husband) didn’t want me to be an actress… so that dream died.”

“But well I feel fulfilled now. He told me that if I want to do something else I can because I can be popular without being an actress. And, of course, I am popular now and I am not an actress. And my husband has been very supportive,” she added.
