Liverpool launches new Champions League kit with one special detail

03/06/2019

Just days after Liverpool’s historic sixth Champions League title win the club has opened pre-orders on a new kit.

The Liverpool 2019/20 home shirt is already on sale but the club has now launched a special Champions League version on the official store with one important new detail.

The shirt is identical to the current home kit but includes Champions League badging on the sleeves instead of Premier League.

Set to be worn as Liverpool defend their European title next season, there is one detail that only Liverpool will be allowed to include on a kit design in the UK.

A special Champions League badge to denote the club’s six titles is includes on one sleeve on the kit. The badge is a Champions League winners badge and can only be worn by clubs who have won the tournament a minimum of five times or three times in a row.

Only Real Madrid (13 wins), AC Milan (7), Barcelona (5) and Bayern Munich (5) have won the tournament five times or more, while Ajax’s three wins in a row in the 1970s means they can wear a version of the badge too.

The kit is available to pre-order with the option of Champions League themed names and numbers on the back including the wording ‘European Champions’ and the number six. However, the kit does not come cheap. It is priced at £86.99 for adults and £74.99 for children.

The club has also launched pre-orders on a host of other Champions League merchandise including a ‘Let’s talk about six’ t-shirt priced at £20, Champions League winner scalves for £15, pens, keyrings and even the Champions League Final programme from the Madrid final.
