List of Popular Ghanaian Personalities who Died in 2020

Ghana and the entire world lost some great influential personalities in the year 2020.

Vibeweek.com have combine a tall list of some notable Ghanaians who have died in 2020 “pandemic” year.

1. Kofi B

Born Kofi Boakye Yiadom, popularly known as Kofi B died on Sunday 2nd February, 2020, in Cape Coast, after complaining of chest pains.

Kofi B, was a modern a highlife musician who stays true to the rudiments of the genre. He literally jumped into the spotlight from nowhere with his solemn and thought provoking hit song, ‘Mmobrowa’.

He has always wanted to be a lawyer and feels he happens to be in music by chance even though his family has a liking for music.

Some of his popular songs include Twa me keke, Mmobrowa, Aserewa, Koforidua Flowers, Sika dwa, Belinda, Akua Ataa.

2. Bishop Bernard Nyarko

Ghanaian actor and pastor Bishop Bernard Nyarko at age 50 died on 2nd May 2020 after a severe illness. Bishop Bernard Nyarko became one of the top actors in the kumawood industry with his great talent.

He later quit actor to focus on full time Ministry, Bishop left behind 2 children.

3. Kojo Wiafe

Popular radio presenter on Neat FM, Kojo Annor Wiafe also shockingly died on 4th June.

Kojo Wiafe, until his death, was a key member of the Despite Media Group and occasionally hosted Okay FM’s After Drive programme and Neat FM’s Drive Time show.

4. Nana Tuffour

Popular highlife legend, Nana Tuffour died on monday 15th June.

Nana Tuffour died at almost 60 years of age after suffering from a short sickness.

5. Sir John

Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Forestry Commission Boss Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie died on 1st July after a short ailment.

The former NPP General Secretary was on admission at the ICU of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra after reports circulated that he tested positive for Covid-19.

6. J.J Rawlings

Former Ghana President JJ Rawlings died on Thursday 12th November, to the surprise of the whole of Ghana and Africa.

19 years after handling over as President to H.E John Kufour in 2001, the vibrant politician died in 2020 at age 73 .
