Asante Kotoko are the 2019 President Cup Champions after beating Hearts Oak 2-1 at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, goal from Mohammed Alhassan own goal and Naby Keita’s header.
Maxwell Konadu kicked off his return to the club with a win against rivals Hearts of Oak in the President’s Cup.
Hearts of Oak opened the scoring via a penalty kick; Empem Dacosta handled the ball inside in the box and Kofi Kordzi scored from the spot to put his team in front.
Asante Kotoko restored parity just seconds before the end of the first half; Patrick Yeboah’s cross caused confusion inside the box of the visiting forcing Mohammed Alhassan to put the ball into his own net.
Substitute Naby Keita scored the winner in the 65th minute; the striker met with Patrick Yeboah’s cross to put his team in front.
Hearts of Oak were reduced to ten men after Robert Sowah received a second yellow card in the 90th minute. The final whistle was blown not long after and the Porcupines were crowned the 2019 President’s Cup Champions for the third time in a row.
