Ghana’s John Boye played the entire duration yesterday pairing Zambian Stophila Sunzu in the heart of defence as FC Metz won 1-2 over Red Star away from home, thanks to Opa Nguetta’s winner in the dying moments of the game.

That crucial away victory confirmed their promotion to the French ligue 1 with three games to spell. They are currently lying top of the French ligue 2 log with 75 points followed by Brest on the second position with 68 points.

Metz were relegated back to the French ligue 2 in the 2017/18 season after exhibiting a poor output in the league that season and this sent them backwards. They did some additions to their squad and just after one season, FC Metz are back to the French top flight.

The French side secured the signature of John Boye from Turkish side Sivasspor even before the commencement of the 2018/19 season. The partnership between John Boye and Zambian Stophilla Sunzu in the central defence has been sensational throughout the season having conceded only 22 goals out of the 35 games played so far in the French Ligue 2.
