Government constructing new epidemic disease treatment centre at Korle Bu

Government is constructing a new 50-bed capacity epidemic disease treatment centre at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

The facility which is expected to be completed in a month is to deal with the new coronavirus and other infectious diseases.

The new facility will augment the disease treatment centers at the Ridge and Tema General Hospitals.

This was revealed to Myjoyonline.com on Tuesday, March 17 by the director of public health at Korle Bu, Philip Amoo.

He also noted that government is still preparing similar sites and facilities across the country to deal with coronavirus cases.

Ghana has recorded seven cases of the Covid-19 disease so far, the latest was confirmed on by the Ghana Health Service on Tuesday, March 17.

The patient is a 35-year-old male, and a Ghanaian citizen who returned to Accra from France within the past 14 days.

All seven cases of the novel disease are imported cases. President Nana Akufo-Addo has banned all forms of social and public gatherings to help contain the spread of the disease.
