Chelsea have confirmed Wales international Ethan Ampadu will spend the 2019-20 season on loan at RB Leipzig.
Blues boss Frank Lampard has allowed the teenager to head to the Bundesliga on a temporary deal, to get more first-team experience under his belt.
Ampadu, 18, has made seven starts for Chelsea since joining from Exeter in 2017, and inked a fresh five-year deal last September.
Yet despite Chelsea’s transfer ban, Lampard believes that Chelsea’s midfield strength means Ampadu will be better served this season by plying his trade elsewhere.
Now, despite interest from Premier League new boys Aston Villa and Championship sides, Ampadu has sealed a move to the German upstarts, where he will wear the No.26 shirt and work under new boss Julian Nagelsmann.
