Electricity Company of Ghana introduces a new short-code to recharge prepaid credit

19/02/2020

The Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG) has made it easier and faster by introducing a new short-code which is *226# to allow consumers recharge their prepaid anytime especially during the night.

This is good news for both smartphone and non-smartphone “Yam” users, because unlike the ECG app that can only be installed on smartphones, the short-code can be used on any phone to top up prepaid meters.

There are other available payment options such as consumers on Smart Prepayment Meters, Mobile Money, Prepaid Top Up, Post Paid Meters.

This method has been introduced at a time when the ECG is putting measures in place to make the purchase of prepaid credit convenient for its various consumers across the country.

Consumers can also get Consumption Information on their meters through the app.
The app and the short-code were launched by the Vice President of the Republic, Dr Bawumia.

So the next time your prepaid credit gets finished, don’t panic, just dial *226# and follow the prompts.
