The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has announced that the country has found a cure for the novel coronavirus.
In a press briefing on Thursday, March 19, 2020, Trump says the Chloroquine, the popular bitter medicine used in curing malaria, could be very effective.
To this end, the president has ordered the FDA to begin a clinical trial of the medicine.
He also said that another drug called Remdesiver had also shown promise in treating the symptoms coronavirus.
This, he said, gives hope that the worst symptoms of Covid-19 could be treated while scientists race to develop a vaccine to prevent the virus.
Trump’s announcement comes at a time that the world is wailing over the novel coronavirus which has plagued almost every country.
As of Thursday, March 19, 2020, Ghana’s confirmed cases have risen to 11 from 7 as was the number recorded the previous day.
The two new cases were all recorded in the Ashanti Regional capital Kumasi.
The Ghana Health Service had earlier announced, however, that the affected persons were responding well to treatment.
