The Juventus forward received the same punishment as Diego Simeone for aping his celebration in his side’s Champions League victory over Atlético.

UEFA’s disciplinary committee has handed down a 20,000-euro fine to Cristiano Ronaldo for the gesture he made during Juventus’ 3-0 Champions League victory over Atlético Madrid at the Allianz Stadium.

Ronaldo’s gesure was aimed at the stand containing the travelling Atlético supporters in Turin and was based on the reaction of Diego Simeone after his side went 2-0 up in the tie in the Metropolitano.
The Atlético coach was also fined 20,000 euros and like Ronaldo escaped a European ban.

Juventus face Ajax in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, with the first leg to take place at the Johan Cruyff Arena on April 10 and the return in Turin on April 16.
