Cardi B and Bruno Mars ’ second collaboration, “Please Me,” rockets to the top of Billboard ’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart with a 6-1 burst on the list dated March 16. The track becomes Mars’ third No. 1, while Cardi B collects her fourth.
“Please” traces its jump largely to increased streams after its official music video premiered on March 1. The song rallied to 45.3 million U.S. streams in the week ending March 7, according to Nielsen Music, up 86 percent from the prior frame. The surge thrusts the track 9-1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs .
Sales, too, pick up as the collaboration registers 28,000 downloads in the week ending March 7, enough to return the collaboration to No. 1 on
R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales for a second overall week. It previously led two frames ago, with its opening sum of 51,000 downloads.
Before “Please,” Cardi B and Mars reigned on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs with their previous collaboration, “Finesse.” The single, a remixed version of a song from Mars’ 2016 album 24K Magic , ruled for one week in January 2018.
In addition to sales and streams, “Please” also improves in the final component of Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, radio airplay. The track enters the top 10 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay (12-9), with a 13 percent gain in audience to 16.9 million in the week ending March 10, according to Nielsen Music.
