Bawumia launches tertiary Student Entrepreneurship Initiative

24/04/2019

On Tuesday, 23 April 2019, Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia launched the tertiary version of the Student Entrepreneurship Initiative (SEI) at the University of Ghana, Legon, following the launch of the Senior High School version in September 2018 in Tamale.

SEI is a government policy developed by the Ministry of Business Development in conjunction with the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan (NEIP) aimed at inculcating entrepreneurship education in students.

Speaking at the launch, Dr Bawumia said when students are exposed to business concepts and plans at an early age, there is a tendency for them to think entrepreneurially and begin to develop products and services while in school.

He noted that the Akufo-Addo-led government is committed to creating a sustainable and business-friendly environment to promote entrepreneurship among the youth as well as nurture, build and promote indigenous Ghanaian businesses.
