Ghanaian Highlife singer, Gladstorm Kwabena Akwaboah Jnr, popularly known as Akwaboah, according to a report received has left Sarkcess Music and signed a contract with a multi-million record label.
The name of the record we were told is OB Empire Music, a multi-million new record label owned by one Oheneba.
According to the report, Akwaboah has already left SarkCess Music and inked a mega-deal with OB Empire even before the release of his current song, ‘Gangsta Lovin’.
During a recent interview on Hitz FM, Akwaboah touching on whether he was still with Sarkodie’s record label stated that they are still putting things in place; hence he wouldn’t want to move ahead to say anything in regard to his exit.
“We are still very cool. We are putting things in place and at the right time, everything will be known. The thing is I can’t be ahead of what we are doing. I would rather want to talk about it when everything is done. It will be very unfair on my part to just come and say things when we are not done” Akwaboah said.
So here’s why we believe Akwaboah is no more under SarkCess Music.
Akwaboah, after he was signed to Sarkcess Music in 2016, did everything under the record label’s name. his singles, ‘Naadu’, ‘Mafutusem’, ‘I Do Love You’, etc and his maiden album, ‘Matters of the Heart’ which won him two awards at the 2019 VGMA’s were all released under Sarkcess Music.
His latest single, ‘Gansta Lovin’ is released under Akwaboah Music and not Sarkcess Music. The Sarkcess Music logo which used to appear on every cover art of Akwaboah’s songs and videos didn’t appear on the ‘Gansta Lovin’ cover art and official music video.
Though many have established that Akwaboah has started his own record label, the fact is he’s signed under a new record label, OB Empire Music and the official announcement will be done together with the release of his ‘Wonkoa’ song which features Adina Thembi.
From the report, Akwaboah’s new deal comes with a house, a Honda Accord, a huge sum of money and some travelling opportunities each month and will have Clarence Peters, a renowned Nigerian video Director taking charge of most of his works.
