The Corporate Affairs Director of the Ghana National Service Scheme (NSS), Armstrong Esaah, has revealed that the authority will, in July, release the postings of applicants for the 2019/2020 national service year.
He said the list will include all defaulting applicants, some of whom completed tertiary institutions four years ago, as well as fresh applicants who left school in 2019.
Mr Esaah told Kwabena Prah Jnr (The Don) on the Ghana Yensom show on Accra 100.5FM Thursday, 27 June 2019 that the current leadership of the NSS intends to make national service smooth for all applicants, therefore, several meetings have been organised between the Executive Director, Mr Mustapha Usif and the other directors to that effect.
“We are putting in place several preparations for the release of the 2019/2020 posting. Within the month of July, we are expecting that Honourable Mustapha Usif [Executive Director] and his team will release the national service postings. Currently, all we are doing is preparations toward the release of the national service posting.”
He added: “The Executive Director is in constant meetings with all the directors including that of the IT department, deployment director, enforcement director and other directors to make sure the postings are released in good time.
“The postings will include private candidates or defaulters who left tertiary some five, four, three or two years ago but didn’t do their service but will want to do it now. This is important because national service is a compulsory one-year service to the nation. Once you are eighteen years and above, and you have gone through a tertiary institution.
“Every decision or action by the Executive Director is guided by the Act that established the National Service (ACT 426 of 1980).”
