Former world boxing champion Alfred ‘Cobra’ Kotey dead

Former WBO Bantamweight champion Alfred ‘Cobra’ Kotey has died.

Kotey died in the US where he had been battling ill health.

Kotey had reportedly suffered a stroke in the midst of some complications and eventually had to be placed on life support.

Kotey represented Ghana at the 1988 Summer Olympicsand held theWBOBantamweight Championship.

He was also the Commonwealth Flyweight championfrom 21 October 1989 to 9 July 1991.
