News coming in indicates that the widely reported case of Ghana’s third coronavirus patient tested negative at the laboratory.
In a report sighted by Vibeweek.com on 3news.com, the patient, a worker of Underground Mining Alliance (UMA) in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region, has been quarantined, nonetheless.
According to 3news.com, a memo to staff from UMA’s Project Manager in Obuasi, Alf Gamett, said the employee was indeed taken ill but the Covid-19 test run on him came out negative.
“He remains quarantined until he fully recovers,” the memo on Saturday noted. “The Company is taking all the necessary steps to ensure the safety of all employees with regular updates being shared with our team.” Mr Gamett called for calm among employees.
On Saturday, March 14, 2020, reports went viral that Ghana has recorded its third case of coronavirus.
Per reports, the sufferer, who appeared sick upon arrival avoided contact with people and would not allow attendants at the airport to touch his luggage.
He, however, willfully reported himself to a health facility in Kumasi where a series of tests were carried out to confirm whether or not he had been infected.
