Accra is in a state of silence as the City witnessed its first day of Lockdown.
The Capital city of Ghana and Kumasi were placed under a partial lockdown on Friday when the President addressed the country for the 4th time.
The Government has implemented proactive measure to help curtail the deadly pandemic that has infected almost 200 people in Ghana; killing 5.
However, Accra which used to be a busy city especially on Mondays has turned into a desert as traders in the central business district of Accra; Circle, Makola, Tudu and those places have closed down shops. They have expressed concerns over the fear of the deadly coronavirus disease.
People have been instructed not to walk around but to stay home in order to avoid being infected. Ghanaians have been entreated to only go out when they need essential items such as food and drinks.
The Security agencies have been experiencing a smooth interaction with citizens, However, they have complained people still do not understand the actual meaning of the lockdown.
DCOP Kofi Boakye in an interview with UTV Monday, he said “people should not move from a lockdown area to an unlockdown area as it will not curtail the spread but will move the diseases across the country“.
