GBC Expresses disappointment in GFA awarding TV Rights to StarTimes over them

Ghana Football Association invited bids for TV Rights for Ghana Premier league 2019/20 weeks ago.

Many Media house’s submitted their proposals including Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) ESPN, SuperSports and Chinese Television Giants StarTimes.

Yesterday, StarTimes was announced the official TV rights owner by the GFA after they made the highest bid.

Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, has expressed its disappointment in GFA announcing StarTimes as the rights holder.

In a statement signed by Ms. Mamie Asare, Director of corporate affairs examined that, its offer of US$1,100,000 annually was superior to the US$1,050,000 annual bid which secured the rights for Chinese pay television company, StarTimes .

“The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation put in a bid which we are certain was superior to what the StarTimes is said to have submitted. As published on the GFA website, StarTimes offered to pay UDS 5,250,000 which comes up to USD 1,050,000 annually whilst GBC made a financial offer of USD 1,100,000 annually,”
