Nadine Dorries, the health minister of the United Kingdom (UK), on Tuesday, March 10, admitted that she has been infected with the coronavirus. According to BBC, Dorries started showing symptoms of the disease since Thursday, March 5, when she attended a minister at Downing Street with Prime minister Boris Johnson and has been in self-isolation since Friday, March 6.

The minister at the said meeting signed the document which declared coronavirus a notifiable epidemic in the country.

Speaking on her health status and how she has been coping with the disease, Dorries said: “I would like to thank… the wonderful NHS staff who have provided me with advice and support.”

So far, health officials are trying to ascertain how many persons the minister had contact with before she tested positive for the virus. Meanwhile, YEN reported that the battle against coronavirus had recorded a massive breakthrough as a 100-year-old patient from China had been reportedly discharged after recovering from the life-threatening disease.

The centenarian was among the 80 people who recovered from the disease and were discharged on Saturday, March 7. He was released from the wing of Hubei Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital in Wuhan where the epidemic was first discovered.
