Ghanaian Actress & Producer, Yvonne Nelson has revealed the two daring things she has done in 2020.

In 2020, Yvonne Nelson said she was involved in making sure she fight for Atewa Forest against Akufo Addo’s plan of mining in one of Ghana’s most popular forest reserve in the Eastern Region.

Yvonne Nelson in a post on Twitter Monday, tagged the President and said “Two daring things I’ve done this year, to cut my hair and fight for ATEWA FOREST. Responsible mining is staying away from critical watersheds that serve 5 million people. Mr President, @nakufoaddo“.

In her post, Yvonne Nelson believes cutting her hair down plus preventing the government’s plan of mining in Atewa is her most cherished achievement of 2020.

However, Yvonne Nelson’s plan of seeing Atewa Forest reserve may not come into fruition as the President has said it is possible for government to mine in the forest without harming the wildlife in the forest.

I am satisfied by what I have been told and what has been demonstrated to me that it is possible for us to get that red matter out without disturbing the wildlife that there is in the Atewa mountains“. Akufo Addo said.

On Jan. 13, Ghanaian environmental NGO A Rocha Ghana went to court in a bid to stop the mining project. Supported by 20 other civil society organizations, A Rocha’s suit claims that mining bauxite in Atewa will violate Ghanaians’ rights to a clean and healthy environment and the protection of the environment for future generations.
