Daughter of the deceased former President, Dr Zanetor Rawlings has finally spoken about his father’s death few hours after the news broke online.
The Member of Parliament for Krottey Korle Constituency in Accra has confirmed the former President’s death in a statement available to Vibeweek.
According to Dr Zanetor, the family require some form of privacy as they go through this tough times in their life.
The statement reads “It is is with deep sadness that the family of His Execellency Jerry John Rawlings (Rtd), informs the general public that the former President of the Republic, passed away on Thursday morning after a short illness...The family requests privacy at this dfficult moment“
However, details of his cause of death has been widely reported to be COVID-19. Other reports say he died of cardio-thoracic complications.
