27/05/2020

Some residents of Ofankor have given reports on the behaviour of the landlord who murdered his tenant on Sunday.

According to them, the landlord, Victor Stephen Nana Kankam is fond of issuing threats hence the killing of his tenant Spark Benjamine does not come as a surprise to them.

Speaking to GhanaWeb, there was a unanimous claim by some of the residents that the character of the landlord is questionable.

“The landlord is a threat to the neighbourhood. His mother has been covering up for him. He keeps threatening people with guns,” they claimed.

The incident took place last Sunday, May 24, 2020, at Ofankor Spot M after the landlord allegedly shot the tenant for refusing to vacate a room rented out to him.

But according to the police, the shooting was as a result of a disagreement between the landlord and the deceased over a woman.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The police say that the suspect is a 38-year-old Estate Developer who claims to reside in London and lives alone with his mother in Ghana.

GhanaWeb visited the crime scene to interact with some of the residents to give an account of the happening as well as the quality of character of the landlord.
