BREAKING: Nigeria records first COVID-19 death

Nigeria, on Monday, recorded its first death from the coronavirus pandemic.

The Nigerian Centre for Disease and Control (NCDC) reported death after confirming five new cases.

“The 1st #COVID19 death in Nigeria has been recorded. The case was a 67-year-old male who returned home following medical treatment in the UK.

“He had underlying medical conditions- multiple myeloma & diabetes & was undergoing chemotherapy. Our thoughts are with his family.” the center disclosed.

So far, there are thirty-five confirmed cases of COVID19 in Nigeria, Lagos has 24, FCT – 6, Ogun – 2, Ekiti- 1, Oyo- 1, and Edo- 1.

The Nigerian government has shut down all international airports, banned public gatherings, and closed down schools.
