The management team of the winner of the 2018 edition of the TV3 Talented Kidz, Samuel Owusu have called of Charterhouse to consider nominating the young talent in the upcoming VGMA.

One member of the team, Mr Sylvester Owusu in an interview with Graphic Showbiz expressed that Samuel Owusu popularly known as Young King Clef, after winning the talented kids, didn’t relent but went ahead to record a track to tackle issues that were affecting lives in Ghana’s politics and the economy in his song titled “State of Affairs”.

His song “State of Affairs” did not only do well in 2018 but its lyrical content and concept affected and influenced a lot of listeners and got a massive airplay from most media outlet,” Mr Owusu indicated.

He further expressed worry over the fact that since the inception of the Ghana Music Awards in the year 2000, young talents have been left out in all categories.

“It absolutely feels like Talented minors are mostly marginalized even though, there has been kids who were very close to getting a nominations but surprisingly when the nominations are revealed, you will realised they have been left out, this wouldn’t help the industry if we continue to act this way,” he stated.

Citing examples, he said in other jurisdictions such as the Grammys, young talents like Willow Smith and other have been considered to the extent that some have even won.

“If a child learns how to wash his hands well, he must be allowed to dine with adults, it’s like we are always subjugating the young talents in the country and this is not the best, they are our future and if we kill their dreams, posterity will judge us,” the manager stressed.

The manager indicated that for a 12 year old kid to write a song like “State of Affairs” he was such a talent and that he shouldn’t be marginalized.

He said the authorities needed to pay much attention to the kid and help build his career, “this is a way we can promote the young talents in the country and it will also help develop the industry,” he added.

He said together with the entire management team, they were grooming the young talent to understand the industry better and very soon he was going to release more records.
