Man Utd have spent fewer days in top four than Watford in dreadful season

27/04/2019

The Red Devils got off to an appalling start under Jose Mourinho – with the Special One sacked in December.

Man Utd have spent just 26 days in the top four this season, less than Watford (40)

While United enjoyed a mini-revival of sorts with “Ole at the wheel” – they’ve now embarked on their worst run in 57 years.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has overseen seven defeats in his last nine matches having been given the job on a permanent basis.

Now United sit sixth in the Premier League and three points adrift of a top four place.

In truth, Solskjaer can count himself very lucky to still be in with a sniff with three games to play.

RANK OUTSIDERS

Only a series of embarrassing performances from Arsenal and Chelsea have kept United in the hunt.

But in truth, United have never been the favourites to bag a Champions League spot.

After all, they’ve spent just 26 days in the top four – behind Watford with 40.

United’s bitter rivals Liverpool lead the pack with 255 days in the Champions League places – above even Manchester City’s 245.

Days spent in Premier League top four (2018-19)

Liverpool – 255

Man City – 245

Chelsea – 190

Tottenham – 189

Arsenal – 72

Watford – 40
