Man City unveil new kits for 2019/20 season inspired by historic nightclub

Manchester City have unveiled their new home and away kits for the 2019-20 season – with the strip they’ll wear on the road inspired by a former nightclub.

Their first new kits for City were officially released on Monday, with a classy sky blue number featuring a nod to their 125th year in existence under the club crest.

The round-neck away kit is black, with a sky blue cuff around the right sleeve and peach around the left.

It also features yellow stripes on the left shoulder and is designed to celebrate the “Madchester” period of the late 1980s and early 1990s, being inspired by the former Hacienda nightclub.

“The partnership between Manchester City and PUMA goes beyond football,” PUMA’s Global Brand Marketing Director Adam Petrick said.

“We want the club’s global fans and local Mancunians to all feel invested in this, and it starts with combining our very creative kit designs with authentic stories from Manchester’s history and music scene.

“We want to bring Manchester City and PUMA’s brand initiatives together when and wherever we can, and that means going beyond the pitch, into wider areas of football culture such as gaming, community, fashion and music.

“That’s how we can really impact football fans of all ages and demographics.”

City’s new kit is set to be on display for the first time when they start their pre-season action with an Asia Trophy clash with Premier League rivals West Ham in China.

They will also tour Hong Kong and Japan before their mouth-watering Community Shield clash with rivals Liverpool at Wembley on August 4.

City’s players have enjoyed an extended break after their domestic treble-winning heroics, with a return to training expected after another week off.

They will return to find their new Puma training kit waiting for them after their new kit deal came into effect.
