Chief Slaughtered Ram Not Human Being – Police

17/07/2019

THE ASHANTI Regional Police Command has flatly debunked reports that Nana Appau Ababio Sanwansa, the Chief of Hemang, has slaughtered a human being for sacrifice.

According to the police, the woman, who falsely spread information in a recorded video that the chief was slaughtering a human being for sacrifice, had been arrested for questioning.

The police have consequently urged the public to treat the false video with the greatest contempt, stressing that the Hemang traditional leader was accused wrongly.

False Alarm

The short video, which has since gone viral on social media platforms, indicated that the Hemang chief was sacrificing a young boy in public for some traditional rituals.

In the video, the back side of Nana Appau Ababio Sanwansa, who seemed to be on his knees, was shown, using a machete to cut something and surrounded by some people.

A voice of a woman was heard in the video shouting that the Hemang chief was in bed with the police, so he (chief) was openly slaughtering a small boy for sacrifice in public.

She also claimed that the chief had ‘bought’ everybody and was acting with impunity.

Police Report

ASP Godwin Ahianyo, the Ashanti Regional Police PRO, in a news release, stated that the police had thoroughly investigated the matter and came to the conclusion that the news was false.

“The Ashanti Regional Police Command has intercepted a video which is circulating on social media and being discussed on traditional media of a woman who is heard alleging that the Chief of Hemang, Nana Appau Ababio Sanwansa, was slaughtering a human being for sacrifice.

“The regional command has checked and cross-checked the video and realized that it was not a human being but rather a ram that was slaughtered. Therefore, the video should be disregarded,” he explained.

Continuing, ASP Ahianyo indicated, “Meanwhile, the woman, who was heard in the video alleging a human being was slaughtered, is being questioned by the police.”

In a related development, another recorded video has popped up on social media in which Nana Appau Ababio Sanwansa was seen slaughtering a ram in public to pacify the gods of the town over a curse.

In the latest video, a voice of man was heard explaining that the Hemang chief was slaughtering the ram to pacify the gods of the town, urging the public to reject claims that the chief had slaughtered a human being.
