GRA fire: No money burnt, our data safe – GRA boss



The Acting Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). Ammishadai Owusu-Amoah, has debunked stories circulating that some huge amount of money had been burnt in the cause of the fire that engulfed the GRA Large and Medium tax office fire earlier today.

Mr Owusu-Amoah said no money had been burnt as the reports suggest, adding that their database are also safe.
The Large and Medium tax office of the GRA was up in flames early Sunday morning at around 8:00 am with Fire fighters struggling to put off the raging fire.

The fire, reports say, started at one half of the second floor but after few hours, took over the whole upper part of the huge building.
Acting Chief Commissioner General of the GRA Ammishadai Owusu-Amoah has told the media that there is a back-up plan for their database and that no money has been burnt.

He also told the Press that over 280 staff that operates from the burnt office will temporally commence work at the GRA’s Headquarters which is also known as the Kinbu office.
Large taxes which are supposed to be paid at the burnt office will be paid at the headquarters from Monday while the medium taxes will be paid at the GRA Adabraka office.

Mr. Owusu-Amoah also told Adom News Reporter Shine Acquah in an exclusive interview that the cause of the fire is not yet known to the Commission Meanwhile, the fire fighters have been able to bring the fire under control after about two-and-half hours of fighting.
